Planner
Kyoto
Fourteen days that let Japan find you — Tokyo’s back-alley counters, Kyoto’s quiet shrines, a ryokan night under Mount Fuji, and snow or sea up north depending on the season.
Day by day
Days 1–4
Tokyo
Hidden bars in Shibuya, breakfast sushi at the market, a tailored evening in Ginza, and the back-streets a first-timer never finds. A historian-led morning, then time to wander.
Day 5
Hakone & Mount Fuji
A ryokan night with a private onsen and a kaiseki dinner under Fuji. The slowest, most restorative night of the trip.
Days 6–9
Kyoto
Tea ceremonies, temple stays, the lanes the day-trippers miss. Dawn at Fushimi Inari before the crowds, an evening in Gion, a day trip to Nara or Uji.
Days 10–11
Osaka
The kitchen of Japan — a street-food crawl with a local, a counter where the chef has eight seats, a day in Japan’s most unbuttoned city.
Days 12–14
North: Hokkaido
Powder days in Niseko in winter, or volcanic hikes and seafood in summer. A wide, quiet finish before the flight home.
